A story that continues

The Dunav Plod OOD group was established in 2016 as an association of two family businesses with a history in the cultivation of Cherry, Apricot, Peach and other stone fruit species since 1994. With joint efforts, they managed to establish two logistics facilities located in the town of Tutrakan and the town of Silistra, to prepare, cool, and package fresh produce for the fresh market that meets the highest consumer and retail standards.
In 2017, Dunav Plod Ltd. grew into an organization by accepting new partners with common goals in the development of a future competitive company, both on the Bulgarian and Western European markets. Under the leadership of the two managers Simeon Turpanov and Miroslav Chernikov, the organization aims to give a new impetus to the company in terms of investments in the production of new selections and formations of fruit species, digital and marketing development, ecologically responsible agriculture, strengthening traceability, optical sorting and procurement of the final product.

Dunav Plod OOD is one of the first organizations of fruit producers in Bulgaria. Grounded in family businesses firmly rooted in their territory, it produces 100% of its production in the fertile Dobrudzha soil close to the river Danube, which is why the local fruit has a unique sweet flavorful taste and excellent quality.
Thanks to the association of producers with over 6400 acres of land. We produce over 2400 tonnes of quality produce for both the fresh and industrial markets. Through good agricultural practices and a responsible attitude, our partners have a team of over 25 permanent employees and over 100 seasonal workers during the harvest period.
We rely on new fruit selections oriented for the fresh market, as well as on older tested and sought-after varieties for industrial processing as well as for the fresh market.

The survey

Preparing for tomorrow means being in close contact with research institutes, following trends in the development of new selections and being prepared to grow healthier fruit dictated by market needs.
Thanks to our partners in the form of the Union of Danube Fruit Growers, as well as the Dobrudja Fruit Union, we participate annually in Western European exhibitions in an effort to be up-to-date and in search of new markets for our fruit.

Danube Dobrudja is one of the best regions for the production of Bulgarian fruits.

- Fertile chernozem soils rich in nutrients and microelements
- Water that is extracted from the rich underground pools close to the Danube River
- Sun that shines 300 days a year and gives an incomparable taste with high sugar levels.
- Large amplitude difference between day and night temperatures, which contributes to the unique red color of our fruits
- The cool and windy winter contributes to the long winter dormancy of the fruit trees

The team

Our experienced team of agronomists craft each orchard with constant attention to detail and technical innovation, to produce high quality, healthy and fresh products.
Then our permanent and seasonal teams take over in our logistics centers in Tutrakan and Silistra to take the best possible care of the products from the farms: picking, sorting, calibrating, packing and cooling to guarantee the freshness of our production.
Our commercial department comes next: listening to our customers and connecting supply and demand.
Finally, our logistics department sends the produce to its final destination and delights the taste buds of the consumers who trust us year after year!
